Interventional Radiology
What is Interventional radiology?
Interventional radiology is an area of speciality of radiology in which
minimally invasive procedures are performed using image guidance. These
procedures have less risk, less pain and less recovery time compared to open
surgery. Real time images are used to direct the procedures, which are usually
done with catheters or needles. The images provide road maps that allow the
interventional radiologist to guide these instruments through the body to the
areas of interest.
